Start with the current land record
Record the parcel location and collect any title, registration or parcel information the family already has. The registered ownership is central; a family account or an old informal agreement may not show the current legal position.
Establish the inheritance position
Identify whether inheritance records have been issued and whether the land is still registered in the deceased person’s name. Determining heirs and shares is related to, but distinct from, transferring or dividing the land.
Decide what “division” means for this property
The family may be considering a sale, a transfer of shares, continued co-ownership or a physical subdivision. Whether a physical division is possible can depend on the parcel, registration and applicable planning or land requirements.
Check approvals before signing or paying
The required documents and consents depend on the title, co-owners and proposed transaction. Confirm the process with the relevant Jordanian authority and obtain advice on the actual records before signing an agreement or transferring funds.
